Cover Letter

My name is Yang Hu, former concept artist at Wargaming US and Bix Pix Entertainment. I worked on both the well known AAA video game, World of Tanks, and 2023 Annecy award winning Stop-motion show, Shape Island. I graduated from Art Center College of Design with honor and I am a well-trained and well-disciplined artist with a good sense of responsibility and teamwork. Further more, I'm highly adaptable when it comes to design and capable of utilizing 3D extensively.

As a testiment to my adaptability, during my time at Wargaming, I had to create many designs that fits the wide range of IP World of Tanks collab with and various thematic events that they had planned through out the year. These design ranges from Tanks and Characters design to fit various famous Heavy Metal band, to well known IP such as Dune and Warhammer, and even anime and cartoons like Girls und Panzer and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Despite the wide variety however, I was able to quickly transition from one theme to another effortlessly and adapat to any style as needed even within the same day. It is this adaptability which enable me to create many designs that do justice to all the various IP that players can enjoy.

In addition to my 2D skill, I’m also capable of creating 3D model, texture and animate in Maya, Rhino, and Blender. During my time at Bix Pix, I created 3D models for key scenes and props in addition to my 2D designs. These models were used extensively by other department s as foundation for their work which sped up the production speed overall. Thanks to this, I was able to reduce down time and reworks which allow me to stay ahead of schedual by several weeks consistantly. And ultimately contribute to Shape Island winning the 2023 Annecy Award for TV animation.
